Sankranti Rush Congests Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway

Hyderabad: As residents of Hyderabad head to their hometowns for the Sankranti festival, heavy traffic congestion has been reported on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway. The traffic volume surged significantly at the Pathangi toll plaza from early Sunday morning, leading to slow-moving vehicles and long queues.

To manage the festive rush, authorities opened additional toll booths at the plaza. Toll plaza staff informed the media that nearly 70,000 vehicles crossed Pathangi between 6 pm on Saturday and 6 am on Sunday. Officials estimate that the traffic flow is likely to increase further as the day progresses.

Meanwhile, traffic congestion has also been reported at Nandigama due to the steady influx of vehicles from Hyderabad.
