TPCC Begins Exercise To Fill Nominated Posts

Priority likely for leaders who stood second in the selection for DCC president posts: Reports

ADLABAD: The Telangana PCC is collecting opinions from ‘deserving leaders’ who missed the DCC president posts, as part of an exercise to fill the nominated posts.

Many senior leaders could not get the DCC chief posts due to caste and other equations in their respective districts.

The long delay in filling up nominated posts, such as the market committee chairman, is causing heartburn to senior leaders seeking high posts in governmental layers.

The TPCC might accommodate former DCC presidents who did not get renewal of their posts in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts. One senior DCC president is likely to get the RTC chairman post under the women's quota, it is rumoured in party circles.

Many nominated posts are lying vacant without being filled even after two years of the Congress rule in Telangana.

A senior Congress leader of Adilabad district said this was high time to fill the nominated posts with deserving leaders by following the norms of social justice and seniority.

Some leaders who stood second in AICC observers’ lists for DCC president post are getting calls from the AICC in charge of Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan. She’s collecting opinions from them as to what were their expectations vis-à-vis nominated posts.

Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud are planning to give priority in nominated posts to the former Osmania University student leaders. They were in the forefront of the Telangana statehood agitation and later joined the Congress.

Some such ex-student leaders of Osmania University in Adilabad district, like TPCC general secretary Durgam Bhaskar who are now in Congress, and some NSUI and Youth Congress and Mahila Congress and Minority Congress leaders are aspiring for nominated posts at the district and state levels.

It is learnt that a leader told Meenakshi Natarajan that it would be good if nominated posts having protocol, such as market committee chairman, are given, so that they could attend official meetings. The sitting MLA in Adilabad assembly constituency is from the BJP.

This Congress leader also met the TPCC president, who recommended his name for a post to minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao and district in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

Another leader who aspired for the DCC president post and missed it is now seeking the chairman post of Adilabad urban development authority.

A senior Adivasi leader is aspiring for a nominated post, such as chairman of Komaram Bheem welfare corporation, which was unveiled for Adivasis by the state government.
