Tight Security, Traffic Curbs in Place for IPL 2026 Matches at Uppal Stadium
Around 2,000 police personnel deployed with extensive surveillance and strict traffic diversions ahead of IPL matches in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been put in place for the upcoming IPL 2026 matches scheduled on April 5 and May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.
Nearly 2,000 police personnel, including law and order, traffic, and special forces, will be deployed to ensure the safety of players and spectators. Over 430 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the stadium, along with a joint command control room to monitor activities in real time. Anti-sabotage checks, bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and mounted police units will be on duty throughout the match days.
Authorities have also imposed strict restrictions on items such as laptops, bags, water bottles, and other prohibited materials inside the stadium. Spectators will be allowed entry through designated gates as per their tickets, while Gate No. 1 is reserved exclusively for players.
Traffic diversions will be implemented in key areas around Uppal due to expected congestion, particularly from noon to late night on match days. Heavy vehicles will be rerouted, and citizens are advised to use public transport, including RTC buses and Metro services. Designated parking areas have been arranged, and vehicles without valid passes will not be allowed near the stadium.
The police have urged the public to cooperate with authorities and follow guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of the matches.
