Tight Security for First-phase Gram Panchayat Polls Today

With Section 163 BNSS in force within 100 metres of polling booths, the commissioner directed that gatherings of more than four persons should not be allowed and that all violations of election rules must be dealt with firmly.

Nizamabad: The first phase of gram panchayat elections will be held in Bodhan division on Thursday, with polling to begin at 7 a.m. Polling personnel reached their assigned villages on Wednesday and halted overnight to be ready for duty. Counting of votes will commence at 2 p.m. after the completion of polling.

Commissioner of police P. Sai Chaitanya inspected polling stations in the division, including Salura distribution centre, Jadi Jamalpur, Salura camp and Salura polling centres, and reviewed the arrangements for counting.

He said robust police bandobast had been deployed at all polling booths, with additional forces posted at sensitive and high-priority locations to ensure peaceful polling. Officers were instructed to maintain strict vigil to prevent intimidation, inducements, group gatherings or any untoward incidents near polling centres.
