Tiger menace: People in bordering villages panicky

Adilabad:People of bordering villages in the state experienced sleepless nights with increased movement of a tiger in the areas.

The tiger killed an elderly woman on Monday in agriculture fields of Kavitpet village in Virur forest of Rajura in Maharashtra, 15 km from Telangana border. In another incident in Koshtala forest beat, Atram Jangu, 50, was killed on Saturday. Another person was killed in Maharashtra on Saturday also.

The same animal is said to have killed a woman and injured another in Kagaznagar forest division. The tiger may have crossed the border and entered into Sirpur (T) mandal. The forest staff are tracking the movement of the big cat.

Nanaji of Itikalpahad said people worried much over frequent tiger movements on state borders and they had never seen such a situation in the past.

Forest officials said the tiger may cross the border through Hudkili forest area in Sirpur (T) and may enter Telangana.

In another development, a tiger was sighted in Kodapalli forests in Penchiklapet mandal on Monday. Forest officials paid compensation for a cattle kill in Hudkili forest area.

Incidents of tiger attacks are on the rise in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. According to sources, 29 fatal incidents, involving humans and animals, have taken place in Chandrapur district this year.

On condition of anonymity, forest officers said incidents of human-animal conflicts will increase in the days to come in bordering areas of Telangana with tigers from Maharashtra heading towards Telangana in search of newer habitats.
