Thudum Debba Urges Forest Staff To Respect Adivasi Traditions

Thudum Debba leaders urged forest staff to respect Adivasi customs during house searches and warned of an agitation over alleged violations of tribal traditions.

Thudum Debba leaders have urged forest staff to respect Adivasi customs and traditions during raids on their houses and demanded that officials stop conducting searches without prior information.

In a statement issued here, Thudum Debba state working president Purka Bapurao said Adivasis followed distinct traditions and rituals. He said their culture prohibited outsiders from entering their houses wearing chappals.

He alleged that forest staff were entering Adivasi houses wearing chappals during raids, in violation of their customs. He cited an incident reported a few days ago in Chorpalli village in Lingapur mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

Purka Bapurao warned that Thudum Debba would launch an agitation if forest officials and staff failed to change their approach.
