The accident occurred around 5:45 a.m. near Narayana College (Basara Campus), under the jurisdiction of Hayathnagar police station.

Hyderabad:Three students were killed and another critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry near Kuntloor, Hayathnagar, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Pinninti Chandrasena Reddy, 24, Chunchu Thrinadh Reddy, 24, and Chunchu Varshith Reddy, 23 — all residents of Kuntloor. The sole survivor, Alimeti Pawan Kalyan Reddy, 24, is undergoing treatment at a hospital and has reportedly slipped into a coma.

The four friends, who were pursuing MBA and MCA programmes in different colleges, had reportedly stepped out for a drive in a car. They were headed towards Pasamamula from Kuntloor, with Chandrasena behind the wheel.

Police said the accident occurred near a sharp curve close to the Aegis LPG bunk when a lorry approached from the opposite direction. Both vehicles collided at high speed after Chandrasena reportedly lost control of the car.

Police confirmed that the airbags deployed during the crash. They are investigating whether Chandrasena held a valid driving licence, if the group had consumed alcohol and the ownership details of the vehicle. Hayathnagar police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
