Three More Booked Under PD Act In ₹1.93-Crore Ganja Smuggling Case

Kamareddy police issued PD Act detention orders against three more accused in a 387.128-kg ganja smuggling case, taking the total to seven.

Kamareddy district police have issued detention orders under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against three more accused in a ganja smuggling case involving 387.128 kg of the contraband valued at about `1.93 crore, taking the total number of accused booked under the Act to seven.

District superintendent of police M. Rajesh Chandra said the latest detention orders were issued against Sheikh Karimullah alias Sheikh Karim, 41, Gainy Subhash, 35, and Sheikh Rahim, 59. All three are residents of Thirmanpalli village in Indalwai mandal of Nizamabad district.

According to police, on June 20, 2026, Devunipalli police received information that a large consignment of ganja was being transported illegally from areas along the Odisha border to Nashik in Maharashtra. Acting on the SP’s directions, special teams conducted vehicle checks along National Highway-44.

Police intercepted two transport vehicles near a Dhaba on the outskirts of Kyasampalli village. During a search, they found ganja concealed in bags beneath jackfruits placed on the upper portion of the vehicle.

Police seized 387.128 kg of ganja, valued at `1,93,56,400, from the vehicle. During the investigation, they examined the supply chain, persons involved in the transportation and financial transactions linked to the case.

Four accused had earlier been detained under the PD Act in connection with the case. With the latest action against three more persons, seven accused have now been booked under the Act.

The SP said district police were continuing surveillance, vehicle inspections, road blockades and targeted operations to curb the illegal transportation, sale and storage of ganja and other narcotic substances.

He said legal action would be taken against those involved in drug trafficking and appealed to the public to inform the nearest police station, police officials or Dial 112 about the illegal transportation, sale or storage of ganja and other narcotic substances. He said the identities of those providing information would be kept confidential.
