Tholi Ekadasi: Devotees Visit Vishnu Temples, Observe Fast

Tholi Ekadasi is considered the beginning of the auspicious Chaturmas period in the Hindu calendar.

Hyderabad: Tholi Ekadasi, also known as Shayani Ekadasi or Devshayani Ekadasi, is one of the most important festivals observed by Hindus. It falls on the 11th day (Ekadasi) of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Ashadha. This year, the festival is being celebrated on Saturday.

Tholi Ekadasi is considered the beginning of the auspicious Chaturmas period in the Hindu calendar. On this day, devotees visit Lord Vishnu temples, offer special prayers, observe a day-long fast and chant the Vishnu Sahasranama. Devotees believe that worshipping Lord Vishnu on this occasion brings peace, prosperity, good health and spiritual well-being.

Thousands of devotees thronged Lord Vishnu temples across Telangana on the occasion. Long queues were witnessed at major temples, including TTD Temple, Jubilee Hills, TTD Temple, Banjara Hills and several Vishnu temples in Khammam, Karimnagar and other districts.

Temple authorities made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of darshan, while police and volunteers were deployed to manage the crowds and ensure the orderly movement of devotees.
