Thieves Steal Silver Crown From Basar Saraswati Temple
The empty hundi was later found near the Vedavyasa temple within the premises. Gold ornaments of the deity were not stolen.

Adilabad: Masked thieves broke into the Basar Saraswati temple complex and stole a silver crown of Goddess Mahankali and the temple hundi from the Mahankali shrine on the first floor, police said. The incident is suspected to have occurred around midnight on Monday.
The empty hundi was later found near the Vedavyasa temple within the premises. Gold ornaments of the deity were not stolen.
Police said the priest, Srinivas, noticed the lock was broken when he arrived early on Tuesday to perform puja and found the crown and hundi at the Mahankali temple missing. He informed temple authorities, following which a complaint was lodged with the local police.
During inspection, it was found that three CCTV cameras near the Mahankali temple had been covered with cloth, allegedly to prevent recording. However, footage from cameras on the first floor reportedly captured the movement of two masked persons. Investigators suspect the accused may have entered the premises by scaling the wall from the Vedavyasa temple side.
Nirmal superintendent of police Janaki Sharmila, along with Bhainsa ASP Sai Kiran, visited the scene and inquired with the staff. The SP stressed the need to strengthen security arrangements, particularly in areas with high devotee movement.
