Hyderabad:Aman Preet Singh, brother of film actress Rakul Preet Singh, has moved the Telangana High Court seeking to quash FIR 325/2025 registered against him by the Masab Tank police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
When the matter came up for preliminary hearing, the High Court directed the additional public prosecutor to obtain instructions from the authorities. The court indicated that the criminal petition would be taken up for consideration on Thursday.
Singh sought a direction to call for the relevant records and to quash the proceedings arising out of the FIR, contending that the continuation of the criminal case was unsustainable in law. Telangana HC Issues Notices to State, Bank on Farmer’s Plea Over Crop Loan Waiver
Hyderabad:Justice T. Madhavi Devi of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the state and authorities concerned in a writ petition alleging arbitrary non-execution of the crop loan waiver scheme. The court also granted permission to the petitioner to serve personal notice on the Canara Bank Aroor branch manager in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, and adjourned the matter to February 3.
The writ petition was filed by Baddam Narsimha Reddy, an agriculturist from Jangareddypalle in Valigonda mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. He challenged the inaction of the authorities in extending the scheme, notified under GO Ms No. 567, agriculture and cooperation department, dated July 15, 2024, to his crop loan.
The petitioner stated that his outstanding crop loan as on December 9, 2023, amounted to `1,56,359. Following the formation of the new state government in December 2023, a policy decision was taken to waive agricultural loans up to `2 lakh per family. Despite several farmers in similar circumstances receiving the benefit, his loan continued to remain unpaid, even after he submitted representations on December 20, 2025.
According to the petitioner, bank records indicated that his family had only one eligible loan account for waiver. The eligibility column was left unfilled, and the status was reflected as “pending verification of family members,” without assigning any justification. After considering the submissions, the court issued notices to the respondents and listed the case for further hearing.
Telangana HC Issues Notice to Govt on Plea for 15% SC Reservation in Bhadradri Local Bodies
Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the State and other authorities in a writ petition alleging failure to provide mandatory reservation to the Scheduled Castes community in local body constituencies of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The notices were issued to the principal secretary and the commissioner of panchayat raj, and the Kothagudem collector.
The writ petition was filed by Gaddam Ramu and another, challenging the action of the collector in not providing 15 per cent reservation to the SC community in the zilla parishad and mandal parishad territorial constituencies (ZPTCs, MPTCs). The petitioners questioned the validity of a notification dated September 27, 2025, contending that it failed to reflect the constitutionally mandated reservation.
They submitted that representations made to the authorities seeking rectification of the alleged irregularity were ignored. The petitioners prayed for a consequential direction to ensure allocation of 15 per cent reservation to the community. Protection of constitutional and statutory rights of the SC communities, particularly in agency areas, was also sought.
The court directed the government pleader to obtain instructions from the authorities and posted the matter to January 27.
