Thailand Reduces Visa-Free Tourism for Indians From 60 Days to 30 Days
Indians make the third largest tourist groups visiting Thailand. According to Thailand's tourism ministry, up to August 2026, more than 15 lakh people had travelled to Thailand for tourism.
Hyderabad: Thailand has reduced the visa-free period for Indian tourists within Thailand from 60 days to 30 days. Thailand’s ministry of interior on August 31 announced new rules for visa-free stay and travel within Thailand for 30 days for 59 countries, including India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany and other nations.
The announcement cited national security requirements for cutting the duration of visa-free stay. “The update is intended to make the list appropriate and consistent with the current situation, taking into consideration national security, the economy and the promotion of tourism”, the ministry said.

Following the announcement, the Indian Embassy in Thailand issued an advisory for Indians visiting Thailand, urging travellers to have at least six months of validity on their passports, along with at least Thailand Baht 20,000 (nearly Rs 58,000) per person in cash.
The embassy directed Indians to fill up the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) 72 hours before heading to Thailand, and get confirmed return tickets, hotel bookings and travel plans in advance.
The embassy directed visitors not to head to Thailand though the visa-free facility if they had a job offer. It also directed visitors transiting through Thailand to have all relevant documents ready related to the final destination.
