TGSWREIS Launches Foundation Courses for IIT, NEET, CLAT from Class VIII
Regarding admissions, the Telangana Gurukul CET 2025 received 1.69 lakh applications for 57,523 seats

Hyderabad: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) will roll out the foundation course for IIT, NEET, and CLAT aspirants from Class VIII in select schools, society secretary Dr V.S. Alagu Varsini said on Tuesday. This mirrors the practice at some private coaching institutes.
At a press conference, Dr Varsini said the society wants to give students from marginalized communities more time to grasp core concepts, prepare for national exams, and compete with peers from coaching hubs. Participation is voluntary and based on interest and aptitude.
Regarding admissions, the Telangana Gurukul CET 2025 received 1.69 lakh applications for 57,523 seats. Of these, 55,504 have been allotted, with 2,019 seats still vacant. The next round is set for May 25, with final reporting on June 10. For the first time, MLAs can check real-time seat availability in their constituencies on websites. Caste, and income certificates compulsory for admission.
The society has also rolled out a wide-ranging employment readiness programme for its students and alumni that offers localised training and job placements without needing any additional budget allocation. These include coding labs in every school, French language certification, food safety systems, and early foundation coaching for competitive exams.
Dr Varsini said the facility was for thousands of final-year students and unemployed alumni under 25, many of whom, despite degrees, have remained out of work. “We realised that less than one per cent of our graduates had employment continuity beyond three months,” she said.
To address this, TGSWREIS has partnered with Bengaluru-based Unnatti Foundation for a 45-day hybrid training course, 90 classroom hours within schools and 110 via app-based modules. Each batch will have 40 students, with registrations starting mid June. The Udyogam job portal will help match candidates with local openings in rural and urban areas.
TGSWREIS is expanding its language offerings through a partnership with the French Embassy. Teachers are undergoing B-level certification, while students from Class VII to X will be eligible for C-level, equivalent to a degree. Varsini said students could use this for jobs or to teach French, at no cost.
All schools would get Raspberry Pi labs to support a computing curriculum. From Class VI, students will learn Scratch, HTML, and Python. “We want students to finish Class X with professional-level computing skills,” she said. Coding assessments are now part of progress reports.
On health, over 260 institutions are adopting the Eat Right School Certification with FSSAI and local inspectors. Food safety volunteers are on every campus after incidents like a food poisoning case involving outside food. “Storage, preparation, and sourcing are strictly monitored, and all vendors must be certified,” she said. She also addressed hostel safety and noted that male staff are no longer allowed in girls’ institutions after repeated complaints, including allegations of inappropriate behaviour and misuse of mobile phones.
