TGSSPDCL To Improve Power Services With DTR Mapping

Discom links consumer services to transformers for faster fault detection and complaint resolution

Hyderabad: The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSSPDCL) has said it is implementing a comprehensive network mapping exercise of its distribution transformers (DTRs) to make electricity services faster, more transparent and more efficient for consumers.

Southern discom chief Jitesh V. Patil said the utility has upgraded its automated spot billing machine software so that consumer electricity services are linked during billing itself with the structure codes of the relevant DTR. Under the new system, the meter reader selects a DTR structure code and processes the billing of all services connected to that transformer in sequence.

Patil said the move will ensure that every consumer service is accurately mapped to the correct DTR. He added that the initiative will provide complete and precise data on the power network, helping the company identify supply faults more quickly, analyse outages better, carry out maintenance work more efficiently and resolve consumer complaints at a faster pace.

He said the main objective of the programme is to modernise the power distribution system, strengthen data-driven decision-making and improve the quality of services delivered to consumers.
