TGSPDCL To Launch Comprehensive Digital Network Mapping Drive To Speed Up Power Services
The initiative to be flagged off by chairman and managing director Jitesh V. Patil

HYDERABAD: The southern discom will roll out a digital mapping drive from Wednesday, aimed at strengthening the power-supply system, speeding fault detection and delivering faster, transparent services to consumers. The first phase of the programme will be implemented within the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) limits.
An official with the TGSPDCL (Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited) said that the initiative to be flagged off by chairman and managing director Jitesh V. Patil would capture end-to-end network connectivity digitally — from 132/33 kV EHT (extra high tension) substations through 33/11 kV substations, 11 kV feeders and distribution transformers (DTRs) to every consumer service connection.
Field engineers would verify distribution transformer (DTR) structure codes feeder-wise at the ground level, while meter readers will visit each DTR during July billing to accurately map connected consumer services. Once completed, the platform would show exactly which EHT substation, 33 kV feeder, 11 kV feeder and DTR supplies an individual consumer, delivering full network visibility.
For consumers, the system will enable instant identification of where an outage lies when a complaint is lodged via the 1912 call centre, the TSSPDCL mobile app, WhatsApp or web portal. Faster fault localisation is expected to shorten restoration times and allow quicker, more transparent communication on causes and estimated restoration.
For the utility, the mapped network will improve outage detection, reduce operating costs, enable better load management and support scientific infrastructure planning. The digital foundation will also facilitate advanced systems such as smart grid integration, AI-driven outage management and predictive maintenance, marking a key step in TGSPDCL’s modernization drive.
