TGSPDCL Sets 10-Day Deadline to Shift Power Lines in Malkajgiri

The meeting extensively discussed monsoon preparedness, inter-departmental coordination for resolving public issues, joint action during emergencies, and measures to ensure uninterrupted public services during festival seasons.

The meeting was attended by Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy, Joint Commissioner Sanchit, IAS, DCP Traffic K. Rahul Reddy, along with officials from the Water Works Department, Traffic Police, Municipal Administration, HYDRAA, and other departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Patil emphasized the need for stronger coordination among the Electricity, Municipal, and Police Departments. He stated that works such as shifting of electric poles, transformers, and power lines within the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits should be taken up in a phased manner to minimize inconvenience and power interruptions to consumers.

He assured that TGSPDCL is prepared to undertake such works on a priority basis in coordination with the concerned departments. The CMD directed officials to identify and shift electric poles and cables obstructing the development of 21 key traffic junctions and the implementation of traffic management measures proposed by the Traffic Department within the next ten days.

He also instructed officials to take necessary action to remove unused electric poles and other structures causing traffic obstructions on roads by August 30.

The CMD further stated that TGSPDCL would work in close coordination with the Police, Municipal, HYDRAA, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Vinayaka Chavithi and other upcoming festivals.

Referring to tree-trimming activities, Patil said that TGSPDCL teams are continuously removing tree branches that pose a threat to power lines. He informed that the removed branches are being cleared within two to three days and that the utility is ready to coordinate with the Municipal Department whenever required.

He also stated that TGSPDCL is exploring the possibility of processing the removed branches through bio-chipping for use in nurseries. The CMD requested the Municipal Department to identify suitable locations for dumping removed tree branches and for storing old electric poles and other dismantled electrical materials.

Sumathi stated that the Police department would extend full cooperation to the Electricity Department in matters related to public safety, traffic management, and field inspections. She emphasized that better coordination among departments would help resolve public issues more effectively.

Vinay Krishna Reddy observed that such coordination meetings are highly useful in addressing public grievances and suggested that similar meetings be conducted every month to further strengthen inter-departmental cooperation.
