TGHRC Issues Summons to SI, Municipal Official in Human Rights Violation Cases
Taking a serious note of the two complaints, the TGHRC asked the police and municipal officials to appear before it on December 4 and 11

Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) under the chairmanship of Dr. Justice Shameem Akther has taken cognizance of two separate complaints relating to alleged human rights violations committed by the police and municipal officials and issued directions for enquiry and response from officials concerned.
In the first case, the complaint filed by E. Satyanarayana alleged that Degala Ramesh, a Sub-Inspector of Police, Manthani in Ramagundam Commissionerate, brutally assaulted Seelam Raj Kumar at the Manthani police station December 7, 2024, following which the victim attempted suicide the next day.
The victim succumbed on September 19, 2025 while undergoing treatment. The Sub-Inspector intimidated the victim’s family, deployed a large police force, and forced cremation of the body on the same night to prevent unrest.
Observing that the allegations were serious in nature and warrant an enquiry, the Commission has directed issuance of summons to Ramesh to appear before it on December 4, 2025, and also directed the presence of the complainant on the said date for enquiry.
In the second case, the Commission has taken cognizance of a complaint received through post alleging that V. Laxmi Rajam committed suicide on October 25, 2025, allegedly due to continuous harassment, threats, and illegal demands from the officials of the Town Planning department, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
Taking a serious view of the matter, the Commission has directed the office to call for a response from Syed Khadar, Town Planning Building Officer (TPBO), Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, and posted the matter for response on December 11.
