TGHRC Finds Fault with Pharma College for Illegal Retention of Students Certificates

The Commission has also directed the Chairman and Principal to appear, in person, before it on September 2 for enquiry

Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther, on Thursday took serious note of a complaint filed by nine B.Pharmacy students of Venkateshwara Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Nalgonda, alleging illegal retention of their original educational certificates by the college authorities on the pretext of pending fee reimbursement.

Observing that such practice violates students’ constitutional and human rights, the Commission, exercising powers under Section 18(c) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, recommended that the Chairman and Principal of the said college immediately return the original certificates and issue Transfer Certificates (TCs) to the students, who are complainants.

The Commission has also directed the Chairman and Principal to appear, in person, before it on September 2, 2025 for enquiry and forwarded copies of the order to the District Collector, Nalgonda, and the Telangana Council for Higher Education for urgent action.
