TGGENCO Seeks to Ramp Up Coal Supplies from Odisha’s Naini Mine

The coal requirement at TGGENCO's thermal power stations has increased due to the El Niño effect, necessitating augmentation of coal supplies from Naini mine

Hyderabad: TGGENCO has been transporting coal from the Naini Coal Mine at Angul district in Odisha, to Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) since August 2026.

The coal requirement at TGGENCO's thermal power stations has increased due to the El Niño effect, necessitating augmentation of coal supplies from Naini mine.

On Tuesday, Dr. S. Harish, Chairman and Managing Director, TGGENCO, and other officials met Abdaal M Akthar, the Collector and District Magistrate Angola, on augmentation of coal supplies from Naini mine by relaxing the timings for movement of coal by road from Naini mines in view of the increased coal requirement at TGGENCO's thermal power stations due to the El Niño effect.

The Angola Collector has advised TGGENCO to have an additional transport route via Chendipada), in addition to the existing route, for increasing coal offtake from Naini mine. This will help TGGENCO to meet the increased coal requirement at its thermal power stations.

The TGGENCO is examining the possibility of coal movement by road through alternate route as advised by the Angola Collector.
