TGFDC Marks 10 Years With Grand Fest

Hyderabad:The Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) kicked off a grand 10-day celebration on May 5, marking its decade-long journey of promoting sustainable forest development and eco-tourism. The event, named the "Decade Festival," began at the Botanical Garden in Hyderabad.

TGFDC’s vice-CMD Dr G. Chandrashekar Reddy inaugurated the celebrations. Speaking on this occasion, he emphasised the significant strides TGFDC has made under his leadership, transforming into a robust and impactful public sector organisation. "Involving communities in forest conservation is key to creating a greener Telangana," he said. "Our focus has always been on sustainable growth that benefits both nature and people."

The 10-day festival features a range of programmes across the state. Highlights include an eco-walk, bamboo and eucalyptus fairs, an eco-tourism day, a sandalwood seminar and workshops on forest and snake safety. The celebrations aim to raise awareness of renewable energy, community programs, forest-based industries, and biodiversity conservation, with each day dedicated to a different aspect of TGFDC's work.

A grand closing ceremony on May 14 at the Botanical Garden will honour TGFDC officers and staff members for their exceptional contributions to the corporation's mission. The event will include awards and recognitions for those who have shown outstanding dedication and performance.

The opening ceremony saw the presence of several senior officials, including L. Ranjith Nayak, executive director (eco-tourism); D. Venkateshwar Reddy, CGM, Dr G. Skylab, GM, Kiran Kumar, financial controller; V. Thanuja, assistant director (eco-tourism); V. Lakshma Reddy, plantation manager; Srinivas, FRO, Suman, projects manager and naturalists Akhil, Aparanjani and Samson Raju.
