TGBIE Asks Private Colleges To Release Certificates Withheld Citing Fee Dues

TGBIE said it had received complaints that several private colleges were illegally withholding the certificates of students who had completed their intermediate education, citing outstanding fee dues.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has issued strict instructions to all private and corporate junior colleges in the state to immediately return the students’ original certificates, including transfer certificates, study, conduct and Bonafide certificates.

TGBIE said it had received complaints that several private colleges were illegally withholding the certificates of students who had completed their intermediate education, citing outstanding fee dues. The board said such actions from colleges is preventing students from participating in the ongoing counselling and certificate verification process for higher education admissions.

TGBIE directed colleges to handover the original certificates and asked to resolve fee disputes separately through lawful administrative procedures.

Colleges violating the directions or refusing to issue original certificates will face action including show-cause notices, disaffiliation or closure, besides other disciplinary measures. The district intermediate education officers have been instructed to set-up district level help desks to receive complaints and monitor violations.
