TG police stop staff’s performance activity reports

Hyderabad:The regular performance activity reports of police personnel seem to have been halted as regards preparing a comprehensive data based on PS-wise FIRs and detections.
Senior officials have also failed to focus on the staff’s performance in cases that were detected after offering rewards online. The online process in updating the information has adversely impacted their performance.
For instance, the Panjagutta police station stood second in India in terms of registering cases, investigation, monitoring investigations, legal trial issues and court constable duties in getting conviction. Along with these activities, the reception centres at police stations to receive complainants played a crucial role.
"For the past few months, officials have stopped conducting our performance activity. We update information related to FIRs, detections online and get rewards based on the intensity and speed in detecting cases," an inspector said.
The Telangana police had a few years back introduced a system of conducting policemen’s performance reports on a monthly basis from all police stations in the state.
The SHO, deputy SP or ACP rank of officers used to monitor the staff’s performance from the home guard to SHOs, across parameters.
Based on the reports, a ‘top’ police station and ‘best’ police stations were picked based on the policemen's performance on the ground.
"The system used to encourage the staff to be more productive. For the past few months, no one has asked us to prepare such data. It is completely made online," a senior officer said.
