The Telangana government on Saturday issued Government Order Ms No. 43, conferring alienable rights — equivalent to patta — over 276 acres to 94 families relocated from the core area of Kawal Tiger Reserve.

Adilabad:The Telangana government on Saturday issued Government Order Ms No. 43, conferring alienable rights — equivalent to patta — over 276 acres to 94 families relocated from the core area of Kawal Tiger Reserve.
Under the order, each family will receive 2 acres and 32 guntas in Maisampet and Dharmajipet habitations and Rampur in Kadam mandal. Chief commissioner of land administration reviewed the allocations and designated 243.24 acres in Survey No. 114 of Nachnyellapur village and 32.19 acres in Survey No. 217 of Maddipadaga village as alienable government lands.
These families were moved on April 15, 2024, under the National Tiger Conservation Authority’s voluntary relocation scheme. Of the 142 households that opted for relocation, 48 elected a cash compensation of ₹15 lakh (Option 1), while 94 chose land-based rehabilitation (Option 2). With GO Ms No. 43, the land transfers are now legally recognised as equivalent to patta lands.
This marks the first relocation of Adivasi families from Kawal Tiger Reserve for tiger conservation. Forest department officials are now preparing to initiate a similar relocation for four villages within Amrabad Tiger Reserve, having already brought several families from ATR to the new settlements in Kadam to encourage voluntary participation.
