TG Govt’s Youth & Sports Week Begins With Marathons, Walkathons, Yoga

The six-day “Youth & Sports” theme campaign, from May 18 to May 23, is being implemented at State, District, and Mandal levels

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has begun its special “Youth & Sports Week” from May 18, featuring marathons, walkathons, yoga, meditation, aerobics, and Zumba sessions across the state as part of a 99-day government service program called “Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika" with an aim to promote physical fitness, youth empowerment, leadership development, social responsibility, and employment opportunities among young people.

The six-day “Youth & Sports” themed campaign, from May 18 to May 23, is being implemented at state, district, and mandal levels; with active participation from youth organizations, sportspersons, students, volunteers, public representatives, and the general public.

Activities began on the first day with "Fit & Active Telangana”, featuring marathons, walkathons, yoga, meditation, aerobics, and Zumba sessions across the state. A 5-km marathon was also organized at L.B. Stadium in Hyderabad, and at district headquarters, while Mandal headquarters hosted walkathons and wellness programmes.

On May 19, Career & Skill Development Day will focus on creating awareness about skill development courses, Sports University opportunities, Skill University programmes, and Agniveer recruitment through virtual sessions conducted at state and District levels. Youth Leadership Summit programmes will be conducted on May 20 to encourage leadership, innovation, and civic awareness among youth. Youth Parliament sessions and painting competitions on social and developmental themes will also be organized with participation from educational institutions and youth groups.

May 21 will be observed as “Play & Participate – Sports Day”, promoting mass participation in sports and recreational activities at various levels under the supervision of District Youth and Sports Officers. As part of “Serve & Support -Youth for Clean Telangana” on May 22, youth volunteers, NGOs, sportspersons, and public representatives will undertake cleanliness drives at sports facilities, parks, lakes, open grounds, and community spaces across the state.

The concluding day, May 23, will focus on “Udyoga Sadhana - Connecting Talent with Opportunities”, including programmes aimed at linking youth with employment and career opportunities, along with recognition of outstanding sportspersons.

District Collectors have been instructed to ensure effective coordination, wide publicity, and active participation of all stakeholders. Necessary arrangements including venue facilities, public address systems, drinking water, and seating has been made for smooth conduct of the programmes.

The government has appealed to youth, students, sports associations, NSS/NCC volunteers, and the public to actively participate and make the initiative a grand success.
