Telangana’s Cabinet is likely to approve two pending DA instalments for employees and pensioners during Dasara, following talks with the employees’ JAC.
The State Cabinet, at its October 1 meeting is likely to approve payment of two Dearness Allowances (DA) instalments for Dasara next month, and consider for Sankranti in January next year, out of the six pending for employees and pensioners. The decision followed talks between the government and the employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) late on Wednesday.
An earlier meeting with Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju had failed to yield clarity on the JAC demands. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with the Chief Secretary, held a second round of discussions with JAC leaders and assured them that two DA instalments would be released during Dasara.
The government also assured the employees that the new Pay Revision Commission (PRC) report would be obtained within 15 days and its implementation will be considered. It said a committee would be constituted shortly to examine the demand for scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The government also indicated that pending bills amounting to around `10,000 crore relating to employees and pensioners would be cleared by March 2027.
Following these assurances, the employees’ JAC called off its proposed emergency meeting on Thursday and other agitation programmes. JAC leaders Maram Jagadeeshwar, V Lachi Reddy, Eluri Srinivasa Rao and other leaders attended the meeting.
