Tensions Rise Ahead of BRS Meeting in Jagtial

Flexi wars and internal strife take center stage

Karimnagar: Tension prevailed in Jagtial town ahead of the scheduled BRS ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ after vandalism of campaign material and public display of internal party differences on Sunday night.

Unidentified persons damaged campaign flexi boards near the Old Bus Stand, reportedly tearing images of former minister Tatiperthi Jeevan Reddy while leaving photographs of K. Chandrashekar Rao and K. T. Rama Rao intact. Supporters of Jeevan Reddy staged a protest on Monday morning, demanding the arrest of those responsible. Local rumours suggested possible involvement of disgruntled former party members.

The incident comes amid reported dissatisfaction within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi over the alleged sidelining of senior BC leader Tula Uma. Her absence from promotional material for the meeting, despite her past role as the first Zilla Parishad chairperson of undivided Karimnagar, triggered debate among party supporters, who alleged discrimination against senior and women leaders.

Meanwhile, Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar, who defected from the BRS to the Congress, displayed rival banners across the town featuring him alongside Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The posters highlighted Rs 135 crore sanctioned for development works in Jagtial, including projects related to a medical college, double-bedroom houses and road expansion.

The developments prompted heightened alert by the administration ahead of the public meeting.
