Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Telangana Government Advisor V Hanumantha Rao (VHR) criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent call for citizens to reduce fuel consumption, travel, and gold purchases during a BJP rally in Hyderabad.
The Congress leader, while talking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, questioned the timing of the “new slogan,” alleging that the government was shifting the burden of economic management onto ordinary citizens after the elections.
He said, “They told people that voting for the BJP would bring development. Now they are asking citizens to use less diesel and petrol and buy less gold. After winning the elections, they have come up with this new slogan asking people to cut down on spending. Instead of lecturing the common man, they should ask Adani, Ambani, and the wealthy people of Gujarat to contribute more towards helping India, VHR stated.
The Congress Leader had lodged a police complaint against PM Modi over his remarks against the Congress party during the recent BJP public meeting in Hyderabad. He alleged that Modi made “malicious” comments by describing the Congress as a “Muslim and Maoist party". He questioned whether Muslims were not part of Indian society and pointed out that the community had played a significant role in the country’s freedom struggle.
