Telangana: Tricolour Flies High, Patriotism Sweeps Across State
Cultural performances by students highlighting patriotism and national unity attracted the gathering: Reports
WARANGAL: The Tricolour fluttered proudly and patriotic slogans reverberated as the 80th Independence Day was celebrated with fervour across six districts on Saturday.
Public representatives unfurled the National Flag at the district headquarters of Hanamkonda, Warangal, Mulugu, Jangaon, Mahabubabad and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, paying tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Cultural performances by students and tableaux presented by various government departments were among the highlights.
In Hanamkonda, revenue, housing and information & public relations minister and erstwhile Warangal district in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was the chief guest at the celebrations held at the Police Parade Grounds.
He unfurled the National Flag, received the ceremonial salute from the police and addressed the gathering. Recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, he said the government was giving priority to public welfare and development.
He outlined various welfare and development programmes being implemented in the district. Freedom fighters and their family members were felicitated, while appreciation certificates were presented to officials and employees who had rendered outstanding service.
In Warangal, forest, environment and endowments minister Konda Surekha unfurled the National Flag at the district headquarters and addressed the gathering.
She highlighted the government’s efforts to fulfil the dream of owning a house for the poor through the Indiramma housing scheme. She also outlined initiatives in irrigation, rural development, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, roads and the industrial sector. She referred to key infrastructure projects such as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, Warangal airport, modern bus station and Inner Ring Road.
In Mulugu, panchayat raj and rural development minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka unfurled the Tricolour at Tangedu Maidan. She said the government was working to ensure that welfare schemes reached every household and presented the district’s progress report.

In Jangaon, government whip Beerla Ilaiah participated in the Independence Day celebrations and unfurled the National Flag at the district headquarters.
Recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, he highlighted the welfare and development programmes being implemented by the government. Cultural performances by students and tableaux presented by government departments were among the attractions.
Government whip Dr Jatothu Ramchander Naik participated in the celebrations in Mahabubabad, while another government whip Ennam Srinivas Reddy attended the programme in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli.
Independence Day celebrations were also held with enthusiasm at the district headquarters of Mahabubabad and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli. Public representatives and officials unfurled the National Flag and paid tribute to freedom fighters.
They highlighted the progress made in welfare schemes, agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure and tribal development. Student cultural performances and displays of development programmes added colour to the celebrations.
