Telangana Trade Unions Protest Against Centre’s New Labour Codes
Protesters, including workers, farmers and agricultural labourers, demanded a legally guaranteed MSP at C2 + 50 per cent with assured procurement.

Hyderabad: Demanding the immediate repeal of the four new labour codes notified by the Central government, the Central Trade Unions Coordination Committee of Telangana, led by INTUC, AITUC, CITU, HMS, TUCI and IFTU, staged a massive protest at Dharna Chowk on Wednesday.
According to the trade unions, the four labour codes pose a grave threat to the Constitution and to the rights of the working class, as they abolish guaranteed minimum wages, decent working hours, job security, and safe working conditions.
The protest was held in response to a call given by Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, chairman of the Central Trade Unions Coordination Committee and president of INTUC.
Protesters, including workers, farmers and agricultural labourers, demanded a legally guaranteed MSP at C2 + 50 per cent with assured procurement.
In addition to universal social security, living wages and pensions, the protesters sought comprehensive loan waivers for farmers and agricultural workers.
They also demanded an end to privatisation and corporatisation policies, strengthening of the Public Distribution System (PDS), public health and public education, guaranteed employment and expansion of MGNREGS, and protection of secularism, gender justice, and the rights of marginalised communities.
The rally was addressed by R.D. Chandra Shekar, Janak Prasad, Adil Shariff, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naganna Goud, Uma Nagendramani, Balraj, Sai Babu, Yousuf, and Venkatesh.
