Telangana Tops Country in Cybercrime Battles

State ranked first in nation in nine criteria

Hyderabad:Telangana ranked first in the country in cybercrime performance during a PRAGATI review conducted by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), based on assessment across nine parameters.

The evaluation covered key areas including implementation of e-Zero FIR, grievance redressal module (GRM), money restoration module (MRM), Sahyog portal for takedown of unlawful content, Samanvaya portal usage, identification of cybercrime hotspots, and capacity building of law enforcement officers.

Shikha Goe, principal secretary, home, and director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), who attended the video conference, said, “I am glad to share that Telangana ranks overall number one in the country.”

She said the PRAGATI review assessed states on implementation and utilisation of digital platforms developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the home ministry.

During the review, Telangana was recognised for early implementation of e-Zero FIR and effective use of key I4C platforms, including the Samanvaya, Sahyog, GRM and MRM portals.

As part of citizen-focused measures, TGCSB has introduced a dedicated helpline (8712665600) to assist users with grievances related to the GRM and MRM.

The GRM portal facilitates registration, tracking and resolution of complaints related to freezing and unfreezing of bank accounts, including removal of debit freezes, liens or holds imposed during investigations. It also enables coordination between law enforcement agencies and financial institutions.

The MRM platform enables restoration of funds frozen in cyber fraud cases through coordination between agencies and financial intermediaries. Victims can claim refunds of up to `50,000 per transaction without an FIR or court order, subject to guidelines.

The TGCSB has urged citizens to use digital platforms such as the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, GRM and MRM for reporting offences, grievance redressal and recovery of losses, and to access support through the helpline.
