Telangana To Move SC Against AP’s Polavaram–Nallamallasagar Project

The development comes amid Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s push to accelerate key irrigation and development proposals.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to approach the Supreme Court against the Andhra Pradesh government's Polavaram–Nallamallasagar irrigation project and has engaged senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi to represent the state.

The development comes amid Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s push to accelerate key irrigation and development proposals. At a review meeting on irrigation and Purvodaya-related initiatives on Tuesday, the Chief Minister instructed officials to swiftly prepare project proposals aimed at utilising funds expected under the Purvodaya Scheme for the integrated development of all three regions of the state.
Naidu emphasised that the funds must be strategically channelled toward irrigation projects, expansion of horticulture crops, and improvement of rural infrastructure, including road connectivity. He also directed the administration to develop 82 horticulture clusters across Prakasam district and the Rayalaseema region, with an ambitious target of expanding horticulture cultivation to 20 lakh acres.
