Telangana to Hire 5,000 Surveyors, says Ponguleti

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announces application deadline of May 17; training to be held under TALIM with subsidised fees for reserved categories

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the government plans to recruit approximately 5,000 licensed surveyors across the state, based on the extent of land transactions and area expansion in each mandal and town. Eligible candidates for licensed surveyor training can submit their applications by May 17.

Applicants must have passed Intermediate with Mathematics as one of the subjects and must have secured at least 60 per cent marks. Alternatively, qualifications like ITI in Draftsman (civil), a diploma in civil, BTech in civil, or equivalent are accepted.

He said the survey, settlement and land records department was being further strengthened to provide better services to the people, particularly farmers, and to offer permanent solutions to numerous land disputes across the state.

Given that the Bhu Bharati Act mandated the inclusion of land survey maps in the registration process, the role of the survey department is set to become more dynamic. The minister stated that the current number of 402 surveyors was insufficient to meet the goals outlined in the Bhu Bharati Act and that additional surveyors are required. To address this need, the state government is taking steps on multiple fronts, such as recruiting licensed surveyors, filling vacant surveyor posts, and making advanced surveying equipment available.

On Friday, the minister conducted a review meeting on the survey, settlement, and land records department at the Secretariat.

The training fee will be Rs 10,000 for OC (General) candidates, Rs 5,000 for BC (Backward Class) candidates, and Rs 2,500 for SC/ST candidates. Selected candidates will undergo 50 working days of training at district headquarters under the Telangana Academy for Land Information & Management (TALIM).

The minister instructed officials to carry out this entire process systematically and ensure the services of licensed surveyors are made available as soon as possible. Principal secretary (revenue) Naveen Mittal, commissioner of survey, settlement & land records Jyoti Buddha Prakash, CCLA project director Manda Makarand, and other officials were present at the meeting.
