Telangana To Come Up With Special Degree Colleges For Minority Students

CM directs officials to set up with strong focus on skill development and AI training

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to establish special degree colleges for minority students in the district headquarters of erstwhile districts, with a strong focus on skill development and artificial intelligence (AI) training.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting to review functioning of the minority welfare department. He stressed that, instead of limiting education to conventional courses, students should be equipped with training that would enhance their livelihood opportunities. He instructed officials to introduce schemes for meritorious minority students on par with those provided to students of the BC, SC, and ST communities. He also suggested designing a dedicated programme for this purpose.

Revanth Reddy directed officials to identify interested minority candidates selected for Group-1, Group-2, and Group-3 services and assign them responsibilities within the minority welfare department. This initiative was aimed at providing them with complete exposure to the department’s functioning and welfare programmes.

He suggested inviting successful Group services candidates and sportspersons to programmes organised for student incentives so that they can inspire students about the importance of education and sports. He also instructed officials to ensure the timely release of honorariums to Imams and Mouzams. He also assured that land would be allocated for graveyards wherever land availability permits.

Revanth Reddy stated that the government was formulating a plan to retrofit diesel and petrol autos with electric engines, aiming to reduce fuel expenses for autorickshaw drivers and improve their living standards.

As part of the Musi Riverfront development project, the Chief Minister also revisited the idea of constructing a mosque, church, and gurudwara alongside a temple. He said these structures should reflect the cultural heritage of respective religions, showcase India’s diversity, and represent Telangana’s ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’. He envisioned them as prominent centres for cultural and civilisational studies.

The meeting was attended by minority welfare minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, MP Anil Kumar Yadav and government adviser Mohammed Shabbir Ali.
