Telangana Submits DPRs For 17 Railway Projects Worth ₹50,870 Crore; Seeks Fast-Track Clearances
Telangana has submitted DPRs for 17 railway projects worth ₹50,870 crore and sought faster clearances for 2,023 km of proposed rail infrastructure.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said that detailed project reports (DPRs) for 17 railway projects in Telangana covering 2,023 km, with an estimated cost of ₹50,870 crore, had been submitted to the Railway Board and sought faster clearances for these projects.
Speaking at a review meeting here with South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, special chief secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal. directed the departments concerned to work in close coordination to resolve pending issues related to ongoing railway projects at the earliest. The meeting discussed the progress of railway projects, issues they were facing, land acquisition, administrative approvals required from various departments and the support to be extended by the state government.
Jaju directed the departmental officials and district collectors concerned to expedite the resolution of pending issues. The meeting reviewed around 21 issues, including construction of railway underpasses and overbridges, approach roads, widening of roads, doubling of railway lines and improvement of public transport connectivity to Charlapalli railway station, among others.
In accordance with the directions of the Chief Minister, the officials were directed to prepare plans for expansion of railway lines in the Future City, Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR) areas. He also instructed the officials of the municipal administration, HMWS&SB, revenue, energy, roads and buildings departments to work in close coordination to facilitate the implementation of railway projects.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to prepare comprehensive DPRs to secure funds under the PM Gati Shakti initiative of the Centre. He also called for preparation of comprehensive DPRs for the expansion of MMTS, establishment of railway terminals in the ORR and RRR regions around Hyderabad keeping in view the future requirements of the city, and land acquisition required for future railway connectivity, including bullet train corridors.
The meeting was attended by GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan, managing directors Shashanka (TGIIC), Y. Nagi Reddy (TGRTC), finance special secretary Sikta Patnaik, Malkajgiri municipal commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, City joint commissioner (traffic) Joel Davis, collectors of Sangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Medak, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Jangaon and Vikarabad, along with senior officials of SCR.
