State to restart recruitment process in May 2025

The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had issued recruitment notifications in February 2024 for TGPSC Group-1 and Mega DSC teacher recruitment

Hyderabad: The state government is all set to resume issuing job notifications starting next month, ending a six-month pause that began on October 10, 2024. The freeze was imposed to await the completion of the the Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-categorisation process, which has now reached its implementation stage.

With the Assembly passing the SC sub-categorisation Bill on March 18 and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma granting assent on Wednesday, the government is preparing to implement the revised SC reservation policy. Orders for the implementation of the SC sub-categorisation Act are expected to be issued within the next couple of days.

As per official sources, the government plans to issue notifications to fill nearly 25,000 vacancies across various departments. This is expected to include a new DSC notification to recruit teachers and a fresh round of TGPSC Groups exams.

The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had issued recruitment notifications in February 2024 for TGPSC Group-1 and Mega DSC teacher recruitment. The DSC process was completed in a record six months, filling 11,000 teacher posts, while Group-1 recruitment has reached its final stage with certificate verification underway.

The recruitment notifications were halted again in March 2024 due to the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, which remained in effect until June 2024.

The turning point came in August 2024, when the Supreme Court delivered a landmark verdict favouring sub-categorisation of the SC community for equitable distribution of reservations in education and employment. In a swift response, Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana would become the first state to implement SC categorisation.

A Cabinet sub-committee was immediately constituted to recommend the implementation measures, which led to the appointment of a one-man judicial commission in October 2024. The commission submitted its report in February 2025, paving the way for passage of the bill in the Assembly in March.

Following the Governor’s approval on Wednesday, all departments have been directed to notify their vacancies and submit indents to the TGPSC and other recruitment boards. This will enable the scheduling of exams and prompt filling of long-pending vacancies.

With administrative groundwork nearing completion, the state government’s resumption of recruitment is expected to bring much-needed relief to job aspirants who are awaiting fresh notifications for the last six months.
