Telangana Govt to Spend Rs 12,600 Crore for Tribal Development, Says Revanth

CM releases 'Nallamala Declaration'

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday promised to spend over Rs 12,600 crore in the next five years for the financial empowerment of tribals. The promise was part of the "Nallamala Declaration", which Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues released at Macharam village, Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district.

"In a first initiative of its kind in India, the Government of Telangana has conceptualised "Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam" scheme to enhance the livelihood and income of tribal families. The scheme will be implemented for a period of five years commencing from 2025-26 to 2029-30 in convergence with forest, energy, panchayat raj and rural development, rural water supply, ground water and horticulture departments," the declaration said.

The scheme will cover an area of 44.5 lakh acres of RoFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) lands belonging to 2.10 lakh farmers from Scheduled Tribe communities. It includes comprehensive land development for agriculture purposes, installation of off-grid solar pump irrigation systems and horticulture plantation with drip irrigation.

The state government has recognised and vested rights over forest for 2,30,735 acres STs covering an extent of 6.69 lakh acres under RoFR Act, 2006.

In view of long-lasting demand from RoFR farmers for providing irrigation facility for their lands, Revanth Reddy instructed to take steps to provide solar pump sets based irrigation to ST farmers holding RoFR land with 100 per cent grant under a special scheme on saturation basis with drip irrigation and horticulture plantation, the Declaration says.

The Declaration states,10,000 ST farmers holding 27,184 acres will be covered in 2025-26 with a budget of Rs 600 crore, 50,000 farmers holding 1,43,204 acres will be covered in 2026-27 with a budget of Rs 3,000 crore, 50,000 ST farmers holding 1,43,204 acres will be covered in 2027-28 with a budget of Rs 3,000 crore, 50,000 ST farmers holding 1,43,204 acres will be covered in 2028-29 with a budget of Rs 3,000 crore and 50,000 ST farmers holding 1,43,204 acres will be covered in 2029-30 with a budget of Rs 3,000 crore.

The Declaration also promises to sanction houses under the Indiramma housing scheme to all the PVTG (particularly vulnerable tribal group) families in the state on saturation.

The Declaration also promises to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to ST unemployed youth with a budget of `1,000 crore for their self employment under Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme.
