Telangana Sizzles As Adilabad Hits 45.1°C; Mercury Sets To Rise Further
Adilabad hits 45.1°C as IMD warns of further 2–3°C rise across state

Hyderabad: Even as isolated thunderstorms swept parts of south Telangana and Hyderabad on Friday evening, heatwave conditions worsened across large parts of the state, with Adilabad recording a maximum temperature of 45.1°C and the mercury remaining above the 43°C mark in several districts.
According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Nizamabad at 44.5°C, Jagtial at 44.3°C and Peddapalli at 44.3°C. Hyderabad recorded an average maximum temperature of 41.7°C, while some localities crossed 42°C. Nampally touched 42.4°C and several GHMC circles, including Amberpet, Saroornagar, Musheerabad and Begumpet, 41°C and above.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, said the maximum temperature was likely to rise by another 2°C to 3°C over the next three days, with dry weather expected across Telangana from May 17 onwards. Thunderstorm and lightning alerts, however, remained in place for isolated districts including Nalgonda, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool on Friday, and for parts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Wanaparthy and Nagar Kurnool on Saturday.
By evening, isolated thunderstorms were reported from Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts. In the city, cloud build-up and isolated storm activity was reported across Uppal, Nagole, Ramanthapur, Osmania University, Tarnaka, Malakpet, Nacharam, Kapra, Malkajgiri and Moula Ali.
A TGDPS scientist told Deccan Chronicle that about 4 weather stations in Hyderabad recorded very light rainfall ranging between 3 mm and 7 mm during the evening thunderstorm activity.
TGDPS forecasts showed several districts, including Mancherial, Nalgonda and Jayashankar Bhupalpally, likely nearing or crossing 45°C over the next two days.
In its evening bulletin, the IMD also said that conditions were becoming favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon over parts of the south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands within the next 24 hours.
