Telangana: Shabbir, Sachin Seek Support For MLC Candidates
Hundreds of minority educational institutions, including medical, engineering and other professional colleges, were established: Shabbir Ali

HYDERABAD: Former minister and government adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday urged minority educational institutions to reach out to thousands of graduates associated with their institutions and seek their support in the upcoming MLC elections for the graduates’ constituency. He said the extensive alumni networks of minority colleges could play a significant role in strengthening Congress candidates' prospects in both constituencies.
A meeting, attended by AICC secretary Sachin Sawant, TPCC senior vice-president Zafar Javeed and heads of nearly 15 minority institutions, discussed strategies to secure support for Sama Rammohan Reddy from the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency and Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda.
Among those present were Zafar Javeed of M.J. College (Sultan-ul-Uloom), Mujahid Alam Khan of Anwar-ul-Uloom College, Syed Basha Mohiuddin of Lords Engineering College, Mohammed Qayyum of Presidency College, Mohd Ghouse of Azad College of Engineering, Mohammed Habeeb of MRM College, and M.S. Junior College director Mohammed Anwar. Representatives of other minority institutions also attended. Candidate Sama Rammohan Reddy was also present.
Recalling the contribution of previous Congress governments, particularly the administration headed by former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Shabbir Ali said hundreds of minority educational institutions, including medical, engineering and other professional colleges, were established with government encouragement and approvals.
Turning to national politics, Sawant said the Graduate MLC elections had assumed greater importance amid Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's nationwide campaign against alleged electoral irregularities and attempts to undermine voting rights.
