Telangana Sees Milder May Weather

Hyderabad will not be spared, with the city forecast to experience scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms along with isolated showers.

Hyderabad:In a shift for the peak of summer, Telangana is witnessing milder-than-usual weather this May, with maximum temperatures hovering between 36°C and 40°C — a welcome break from the state’s typically harsh heatwave conditions. However, this respite is not without complications, as widespread thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning are expected across most districts over the next ten days.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department - Hyderabad (IMD-H), the cooler temperatures are expected to hold until at least May 15. IMD issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning across almost the entire state. Districts in northern Telangana — including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nizamabad — as well as parts of central, southern and western Telangana, are all under advisories for the coming week. Eastern districts like Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Khammam, and Mulugu have also been flagged for storm activity.

Hyderabad will not be spared, with the city forecast to experience scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms along with isolated showers. “There’s likely to be strong wind activity, so we advise people to avoid stepping out unnecessarily when the weather turns,” said a weather official.

Update warned that the combination of strong sun through the day and widespread rain in the evenings could lead to unstable weather.
