Telangana Schools to Reopen on June 15, Not June 12

School Education Department postpones reopening by three days; July 11 declared a working day to compensate for lost academic time.

Hyderabad: The Telangana School Education Department has revised the reopening date for schools for the 2026–27 academic year, postponing it from June 12 to June 15.

In proceedings issued by Director of School Education Dr. E. Naveen Nicolas, IAS, the decision was taken after the government received multiple representations from various stakeholders seeking a reconsideration of the reopening schedule.

According to the order, June 13 and June 14 fall on a second Saturday and Sunday respectively. Consequently, all government and private schools across the state will now reopen on Monday, June 15.

To compensate for the academic time lost due to the postponement and to ensure compliance with the prescribed instructional days in the academic calendar, the department has declared July 11, the second Saturday of the month, as a regular working day for all schools under the School Education Department.

The Director of School Education has directed all Regional Joint Directors, District Educational Officers and other concerned officials to communicate the revised schedule to schools under their jurisdiction and ensure its implementation.
