Telangana: Sarpanches, Councillors Active In SIR Drive To Ensure Political Future
Even defeated sarpanches and councillors are taking part in the exercise in several gram panchayats and urban areas: Reports

ADILABAD: Sarpanches and ward councillors across political parties, including BJP, Congress, BRS and MIM, are actively participating in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the erstwhile Adilabad district, with a focus on assisting enumeration work in towns and villages.
Even defeated sarpanches and councillors are taking part in the exercise in several gram panchayats and urban areas.
Local representatives are supporting booth level officers (BLOs) by providing internet access and accommodation in interior villages. They are also assisting in the distribution of enumeration forms and facilitating the uploading of data in areas facing connectivity issues.
In villages with poor network coverage, sarpanches are extending logistical support to ensure completion of digitalisation of enumeration forms.
Pasula Chanti, Congress coordinator for SIR in the Boath Assembly constituency, said sarpanches were cooperating with BLOs visiting gram panchayats and providing accommodation and internet facilities in remote areas lacking connectivity.
BLOs have been receiving support from local representatives in interior villages such as Vajjar, Keshavguda, Nagapur, Mandabogada and Bavujipet in the constituency.
Sidam Devarao, sarpanch of Nagapur in Boath mandal, said he had extended cooperation to BLOs and staff visiting the village in connection with the SIR, noting the importance of voters for political representatives.
BLOs are also coordinating with booth level agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties for effective implementation of the revision.
District officials are conducting training programmes for BLAs on voter mapping using the 2002 electoral roll, comparison with the 2025 list, and identification of duplication, deaths, migration and other anomalies, along with digitalisation of enumeration forms.
