Telangana Sanctions ₹11.86 Crore to Restore Eight Heritage Gateways in Hyderabad's Old City
The restoration will be carried out by the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA), with the expenditure to be met from HMDA funds.

Hyderabad: The state government has accorded administrative sanction for ₹11.86 crore to restore and renovate eight Kamaans in the Old City, replacing an earlier proposal for minor repairs after authorities found the structures had deteriorated significantly and posed a safety risk.
The restoration will be carried out by the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA), with the expenditure to be met from HMDA funds. The government has also permitted QQSUDA to appoint consultants for preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) and to invite separate tenders for each restoration work.
The restoration project covers at Ranigunj Kamaan (₹0.63 crore), Sheik Faiz Kamaan (₹0.82 crore), Chatta Bazaar Kamaan (₹1.40 crore), Dewan Deodi Kamaan-I (₹2 crore), Dabeerpura Kamaan (₹1.14 crore), Hussaini Alam Kamaan (₹0.55 crore), Dewan Deodi Kamaan-II (₹2.38 crore) and Hashmatgunj Kamaan (₹2.94 crore).
The government noted that an earlier sanction of ₹2 crore, issued in 2023 for minor repairs to six of the heritage gateways, was found to be inadequate as the proposed works would not restore the structures' structural integrity and safety. Consequently, the previous sanction has been superseded by the new order.
