Telangana: Samuel Fires Salvo At Komatireddy Brothers

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had inspected road works at Mothkur in his Thungathurthy constituency without informing him: Thungathurthy Congress MLA Mandula Samuel

NALGONDA: Thungathurthy Congress MLA Mandula Samuel on Friday fired a salvo at the Komatireddy brothers, alleging that the duo were seeking domination over politics in Assembly segments reserved for the Scheduled Castes communities in erstwhile Nalgonda district.

Speaking at a media conference at his camp office in Tirumalgiri, Suryapet district, he said minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had inspected road works at Mothkur in his Thungathurthy constituency without informing him. He expressed anger at the violation of protocol, saying Venkat Reddy ignored that Thungathurthy had its own MLA. He described Venkat Reddy’s attitude as “upper‑caste political arrogance” and accused him of insulting the SC reserved constituency.

Referring to comments made by Munugode MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy on Thungathurthy and Nakrekal constituencies, Samuel alleged that the Komatireddy brothers had been insulting MLAs from the reserved seats in the district. He said he had met Venkat Reddy several times seeking sanction for a two‑kilometre road, but received no positive response.

He stressed that his opportunity to be a legislator came through constitutional reservation, not through the blessings of the Komatireddy brothers.

Accusing them of resorting to “shava rajakeeyalu” (politics on death), Samuel pointed out that Raj Gopal Reddy had made political comments targeting Thungathurthy and Nakrekal while visiting the house of a party leader who had recently died. He said Raj Gopal Reddy had defected to the BJP and used abusive language against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi during the Munugode byelection. Samuel questioned whether such behaviour reflected the attitude of an original Congress leader.

He warned that Dalits would put an end to the political career of the Komatireddy brothers if they continued to insult SC community MLAs. He said he would complain to Congress in‑charge of Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan.

Reacting to Samuel’s remarks, Raj Gopal Reddy said he was not taking them seriously. He asked his followers to maintain restraint. He claimed Samuel had repeatedly requested him for the Congress ticket from Thungathurthy and added that he had helped Samuel secure victory in the elections.
