Telangana Ranks 5th in Fake Currency Seizures

Karnataka topped the list with seizures worth over ₹32 crore, followed by Assam (₹4.9 crore), Chhattisgarh (₹3.8 crore) and West Bengal (₹1.5 crore).

Hyderabad:Telangana ranked fifth in the country in fake currency seizures in 2024, according to data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The state seized counterfeit notes worth ₹1.57 crore, of which ₹1.56 crore were in ₹500 denomination.

Karnataka topped the list with seizures worth over ₹32 crore, followed by Assam (₹4.9 crore), Chhattisgarh (₹3.8 crore) and West Bengal (₹1.5 crore).

In Telangana, police recovered 31,388 fake ₹500 notes, 43 notes of ₹200 and 54 notes of ₹100.

In 2023, the state had seized fake currency worth ₹80.65 lakh, including ₹75.67 lakh in ₹500 notes, ₹1.68 lakh in ₹200 notes, ₹2.84 lakh in ₹100 notes and ₹45,050 in ₹50 notes.
