Telangana Power Staff on High Alert for Rains

Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has been placed on high alert following warnings of heavy rains in the state. Holidays have been cancelled and engineers and staff have been instructed to remain at their headquarters round-the-clock.

About 200 officers and staff from the corporate office, zonal, and circle offices have been deployed to field operations. To ensure uninterrupted power supply to government hospitals, operation and maintenance (O&M) staff have been assigned for 24-hour duty.

In Greater Hyderabad, 213 section offices with Fuse of Call Offices (FOCs) operate GPS-enabled autos. The company has 167 Emergency Response Team (ERT) vehicles—similar to power ambulances—equipped with staff and tools for emergencies.

During a field inspection, TGSPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) Musharraf Faruqui, along with director (operations) Dr Narsimhulu, visited the Hussainsagar sub-station, inspecting ERT vehicles and FOC equipment.

The CMD urged vigilance in flood-prone areas where water could enter apartment cellars and reach panel boards. In case of emergencies, consumers can contact officials listed on their electricity bill, call 1912, reach the local FOC or use special control room numbers below.
