Telangana Power Artisans Defy Termination Threat, Many Continue Their Strike On 9th Day
Genco had earlier ordered that the striking employees must resume duties by 11 am on Thursday, with station heads instructed to collect medical cards and halt reimbursements for those not complying with the orders.

HYDERABAD: Artisans from Telangana's power utilities continued their protest as their strike entered 9th day on Thursday, despite the Transmission Corporation (Transco) and Generation Corporation (Genco) issuing warnings of termination of service and cutting medical benefits under the Essential Services Maintenance Act.
Protesters, including women, enduring scorching heat outside Genco offices, held placards and chanted slogans demanding regularisation of service based on qualifications, APSEB service rule enforcement, absorption of workers in the southern and northern discoms (TGNPDCL and TGSPDCL), implementation of the pay revision commission, and minimum wages per GO MS 11 for piece-rate staff. "The government must address our long-pending demands. We won't back down until our demands are met," one artisan said.
Genco had earlier ordered that the striking employees must resume duties by 11 am on Thursday, with station heads instructed to collect medical cards and halt reimbursements for those not complying with the orders. While a few rejoined Rangareddy district, most employees continued the strike which was launched on April 8.
