Telangana Police, Yugantar Partner to Strengthen Support for LGBTQIA+
The partnership marks a progressive step towards inclusive policing and support for LGBTQIA+ persons
Hyderabad: The Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yugantar, a Bengaluru-based non-profit organization, to strengthen services under the Pride Place Transgender (LGBTQIA+) Persons Protection Cell.
This partnership marks a progressive step towards inclusive policing and support for LGBTQIA+ persons across the State, according to WSW Additional Director General of Police, Charu Sinha.
Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate to provide crisis intervention, legal aid, mental health support, training for police personnel, and public awareness initiatives. Yugantar, through its Queer-Trans Wellness and Support Center in Hyderabad, will extend its expertise and infrastructure to aid vulnerable individuals.
