Telangana Police Seek Explanation from Siddipet ACP Suman Kumar
Hyderabad: Telangana police has reportedly sought an explanation from Siddipet traffic ACP Suman Kumar, who was charged for obstruction of duties during a drunken driving test. He was also found violating the rules in more than one way a few days back.
Suman Kumar’s case file is with senior officials, who are yet to take a decision on the charge memo and are verifying the explanation given by the ACP for further action.
According to sources, a multi-zone IG sought an explanation from Suman Kumar following the instructions of Director-General of Police Dr Jitender.
Madhuranagar station house officer G. Srinivas Varma told Deccan Chronicle that the police had booked cases against Suman Kumar for obstructing a public servant and causing disappearance of evidence, as well as under the Motor Vehicle Act. “After transparently investigating the case, we have submitted a report,” the SHO said.
On May 13, the Madhuranagar police had charged Suman Kumar with creating trouble during a drunk drive check in SR Nagar. According to police records, SR Nagar traffic sub-inspector G Kantha Rao, lodged a complaint against the ACP.
The city police charged Suman Kumar with intervening to get his friend Jaipal Reddy off the hook, despite knowing that he was drunk.
Police records also stated that the ACP not only obstructed traffic sub-inspector G. Kantha Rao from performing his duties but also tried to swap the driver by shifting to his seat and demanding that he be given the breathanalyser.
