Hyderabad: The novel QR code-based feedback system that the police launched four months ago failed to bear fruit because of lack of awareness among complainants who visit police stations. The system was launched in January by DGP Jitender. Based on the feedback, the police department was expected to transform itself as a people-friendly organisation and introduce reforms in accepting complaints and handling the issues.
In many police stations, the stickers bearing the QR codes are pasted at remote corners, mostly out of sight to the complainants. In some cases, people did not know how to use the feedback system.
At the Balanagar police station, QR code sticker was pasted at the entrance of the police station and reception. However, the police personnel feigned ignorance about the purpose of the QR code when the visitors sought to know details.
At Bowenpally police station, constable B. Rambabu said that they have pasted the sticker inside the police station and regularly ask people to give their feedback. However, the poster pasted inside the police station is almost invisible to the visitors.
A superintendent of police (SP) rank of officer in CID is handling the feedback being received from the police stations. It was revealed that Ramagundam has topped in getting feedback in connection with the issues taking place in police stations. A nominal response evoked from tri-police commissionerates from the visitors.
Among those who could have used the system were women complainants who had a tough time in getting their cases registered. In Attapur of Cyberabad, a woman approached senior officers after the station staff failed to address her issue. Later, a case was registered following the direction of senior officers.
A woman approached the Bolaram police and had a bitter experience after police asked her to settle the issue. Later, she wrote to senior police officers and got her case registered.
