Telangana Police Book AP Cops over Bid to Outrage Woman's Modesty

The complainant requested the police to take necessary action against Srinivas, who is Circle Inspector of Police of Bobbili along with other unknown persons as per law

Hyderabad: The Telangana police registered a case against the AP police for attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman while detaining her husband from her house in Karmanghat a few days ago.

In her complaint lodged to the Saroornagar police, K Vijaya Lakshmi said that certain unknown persons came in civil clothes claiming to be from Andhra Pradesh police department and illegally entered her house at Bairamalguda in Karmanghat on June 30 without following legal procedures.

They forcibly took her husband K Venkatrami Reddy in a car bearing registration number TS-08-FP-2712. When she questioned their unlawful actions, they pushed and took her mobile phone.

She said that even if it is assumed that they belong to the AP police, they were legally required to wear uniforms with clear nameplates, provide the relevant case number and details related to the arrest of her husband and produce him before the local magistrate in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines.

Since they completely disregarded the law, the complainant requested the police to take necessary action against Srinivas, who is Circle Inspector of Police of Bobbili along with other unknown persons as per law.

Based on her complaint, the police booked a case under Section 74 (assault or criminal force used against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
